Seth just did a school project that he had to do a how to speech and presentation. After thinking about what he wanted to do for about a week (He came up with some really wild ideas), he decided to do "How to Build a Volcano". The idea peaked Shea's interest he mind started spinning with ideas of how to make the best ever volcano. I was excited myself because it was a project that Shea and Seth could do together and I was getting off almost free and clear. I did help him with the essay portion. The project took them a few weeks to put it all together, and it did turn out to be the best ever volcano. Good job Seth! and you too Shea!
They started with a plywood base and formed a chicken wire structure.
Next, they covered that with gauze dipped in a paste mixture.
Then they had to let it completely dry.
They covered it with air dry clay.
and had to let it dry again.
They had a little hiccup with the clay cracking and needing to patch it up.
They finished up with painting it and giving it a protective coating of polyurethane.
Seth giving his presentation at school. The class really like it. He got lots of oohs and ahhs.
If you look closely you can see the lava. Erupting the volcano was Seth's favorite part.
